- The department was established in the year 1991 by an eminent personality Prof. D. V. L Narayan, H.O.D Electrical Engineering with an admission intake of 30.

- Workshop programme on “Embedded System Design using Microcontrollers” was organized as a networking activity under TEQIP.
- About 75% of the students are consistently placed in campus placement.
- Students are also encouraged to take up higher studies , actively participate in sports and extracurricular activities.
- An association for Instrumentation Engineers was formed in 2002.
